Opener Not Working? Try one of these solutions first! ​

Is the Performax™ Garage wall button illuminated (Wall button must be Performax™ Garage Brand). Wall button must be illuminated for opener to work properly. Check for proper installation of Performax™ Garage wiring and the connection to the back of the Peformax Opener®. Refer to Page 12-14.
2. Is the Performax™ Garage brand wall button installed using Performax brand wiring? Refer to Page 14. (All other brands of wall buttons are not compatible with Performax™ Garage products. Only the Performax™ Garage wall button and wiring will work with the Performax opener)

Installing a Performax™ Garage Door Opener on an 8 ft Door
Possible Solution An 8 ft extension kit is available at your local Menards® store.
Trouble Programming the Performax™ Wireless Remote
Possible Causes & Solutions • Confirm you are using a Performax™ brand wireless remote. Only Performax™ accessories are compatible with Performax™ openers. • Verify batteries are installed and functional. • Refer to page 19 of the instruction manual.
Opener Does Not Close and Courtesy Light Flashes
Possible Causes & Solutions The Photo Eye Safety System may not be properly installed or aligned. Check wiring and alignment (pages 12–13 of the owner’s manual).
Door Reverses Unintentionally
Possible Causes & Solutions • Ensure the Photo Eye Safety System is aligned and free of obstructions. • Check door balance. • Check and readjust force settings.
Door Reverses Upon Touching the Floor and Courtesy Light Flashes
Possible Causes & Solutions • Adjust the close travel limit. • Decrease the close limit in 1/4-turn increments until the door stops correctly at full close. • Conduct a safety reverse test after ANY adjustment.
Courtesy Light Flashes 5 Times and Opener Does Not Start
Possible Causes & Solutions • The opener motor has overheated. Wait 15–30 minutes and retry. • If the opener still does not respond, contact customer service.
Opener Will Not Close and Courtesy Light Flashes
Possible Causes & Solutions The Photo Eye Safety System is misaligned or obstructed. Check and correct alignment.
Opener Works but Courtesy Light Does Not Turn On
Possible Causes & Solutions Replace the light bulb (A19 incandescent, maximum 100W).
Courtesy Light Will Not Turn Off
Possible Causes & Solutions • Unplug the garage door opener. • Wait 5 minutes. • Plug the opener back in and test operation. • If the issue persists, contact customer service.
Opener Hums and Trolley Hits Stop Bolt During Open Travel
Possible Causes & Solutions • Ensure the trolley is positioned toward the trolley stop bolt. • Disconnect the trolley using the emergency release. • Close the door manually. • Relieve chain tension by loosening both the nut and the chain-to-cable connection (page 6). • Operate the opener so the trolley shaft moves toward the door (keep trolley disconnected). • Decrease the open travel limit by two full turns (page 16). • Retighten the chain until it is 1/4" (6 mm) above the base of the rail (page 6).
Opener Opens Once After Installation, Then Stops and Lights Flash
Possible Causes & Solutions Photo eyes are not connected or are misaligned. Refer to pages 13 and 15 of the owner’s manual.
Remote or Wireless Keypad Will Not Program
Possible Causes & Solutions •Replace batteries (page 21) •Learn button held too long or programming exceeded 30 seconds
