1. Is the Performax™ Garage wall button illuminated (Wall button must be Performax™ Garage Brand). Wall button must be illuminated for opener to work properly. Check for proper installation of Performax™ Garage wiring and the connection to the back of the Peformax Opener®. Refer to Page 19.
2. Is the Performax™ Garage brand wall button installed using Performax brand wiring? Refer to Page 19. (All other brands of wall buttons are not compatible with Performax™ Garage products. Only the Performax™ Garage wall button and wiring will work with the Performax opener)

1. Are the photo eyes installed? The photo eyes must be installed for the Performax™ Garage Opener to work properly. Without the Performax™ Garage photo eyes installed the opener WILL NOT WORK. Take special care to install photo eyes using Performax™ Garage brand wiring.
2. Are the photo eyes properly aligned and connected using Performax brand wiring? Refer to Page 13 and 14. (Only Performax™ Garage brand photo eyes and Performax™ Garage brand wiring will work with the Performax opener, using all other brands of photo eyes and wiring will cause your opener to work incorrectly)

The 425-1665 Performax™ Garage Opener MUST BE PROGRAMMED before it will operate. Programming instructions are located on pages 16-18 of the owners manual. You must complete every step of the programming for the opener to operate correctly.

Is the Performax™ Garage Opener installed on a 7ft garage door or smaller? Standard Performax™ Garage door openers work with up to 7ft tall garage doors. An 8ft extension kit is currently available at your local Menards® store.

  1. Photo eyes hooked up and lit? (Page 14)
  2. Have not programmed the travel or force, pages 16-18.
  3. Wall button incorrectly wired
  4. Bad electrical outlet or breaker.
  1. Did not start with screwdriver setting, trolley to close to the door when door closed (Page 6, Figure 2)
  2. Need to readjust the travel or force, pages 16-18.
  3. Check chain / belt tension
  1. Chain or cable on the wrong side of the rail, page 5 and page 6 of the owners manual.
  1. Photo eyes not aligned properly, page 15.
  2. Photo eye wiring installed incorrectly, page 14.
  1. Belt installed on the wrong side of the rail, page 6.
  1. Belt tension needs to be tightened. Page 7, 1/4" may not be enough depending on the door size & type and door spring tension. Tighten belt or chain until it no longer slips.
  2. An obstruction in the rail or a door roller issue.
  1. Garage door arm is at too vertical of an angle and the trolley is too close to the pulley. See page 11, figure 1
  1. The photo eye may be obstructed, not properly aligned or installed, check connection and alignment on page 14 & 15
  1. Refer to page 21 to reprogram remote
  2. Check the batteries in the remote, page 21
  1. Travel limit is not properly adjusted, check adjustment referring to pages 16 - 18. Conduct safety reverse test after any adjustment.
  1. Make sure the photo eye safety system is aligned and clear of obstruction.
  2. Refer to page 4 to check the door balance.
  3. Refer to page 16 - 18 to re-adjust travel limits and travel force adjustment.
  1. The photo eye safety system is misaligned or obstructed, refer to page 15 for proper alignment.
  1. Replace light bulb (A19 incandescent Max. 100w)
  1. Make sure the trolley is towards the trolley stop bolt.
  2. Disconnect the trolley by using the emergency release.
  3. Close the door manually.
  4. Relieve the chain/belt tension by loosening both the shaft linker and the flange nut
  5. Operate the opener so the trolley shaft travels towards the door (trolley should be kept disconnected.)
  6. Refer to page 16 to decrease UP limit
  7. Refer to page 7 to re-tighten the belt until it is 1/4" (6mm) above the base of the rail (reference the figure shown on page 7)
  8. Repeat the above steps if the trolley still hits the stop bolt.
  1. Check the batteries in the device. Refer to page 21 of the manual.
  2. Holding the learn button in too long or taking more than 30 seconds to complete the programming cycle.
Due to Performax™ Garage Door Products use of advanced technology current universal remotes and keyless entries are NOT COMPATIBLE. Performax™ Garage Door Openers will only work with Performax™ Garage Door Opener brand accessories.
  1. Make sure the Performax™ Garage button is installed using Performax™ Garage Wiring. Refer to page 19 in the manual.
  2. Check connection on back of the opener.
  3. Contact customer service.
